Hi there, I'm Julia.

I was born in Germany in 1997 and spent my childhood drawing, painting and being creative in whatever way possible. In late 2018 I moved to Lake Hāwea, New Zealand. Being surrounded by the most amazing scenery I had ever seen, my passion for landscape painting was sparked.

I went for a walk every day and painted something that had caught my eye. I started to enter in exhibitions and found clients all over New Zealand.

Once I discovered that I wasn't actually as unfit as I thought, I started hiking. New Zealand's wilderness never ceases to amaze me. Whenever I can I try to go out there and get inspired by mountain tops, tarns, valleys, views for miles and nature's moods.

My mission is to bring the wonder of nature home and onto the canvas.

I am currently represented by Artofact Gallery in Picton and Wanaka Fine Art Gallery in Wanaka.

THE ARTIST

"...Tom was the first to reach the ridge. A few steps behind, I asked “Is this it? Can you see the tarns?” And Tom just gave me a look and an astounded “oh... come have a look at this.” I scrambled up and looked over. I couldn't breathe. The view blew my mind. At the same time I could feel panic grow inside of me.

In front of me were sheer rock faces, almost falling vertically from the ridge we were standing on into the valley below. The basin was covered in a thick layer of ice, the tarns completely frozen. It was absolutely wicked."

There are no words to truly describe what I was feeling. The absolute beauty and the absolute terror. I am convinced we live on the most amazing piece of space rock, and I think sometimes we need to be reminded of that.

This is why I paint.
